About the Artwork:
I enjoy capturing the beauty in casual, passing moments. Whether shooting nature, people, or cityscapes…I find myself striving for an industrial style. I’m heavily inspired by the cinema of the 1960’s and 70’s. I like punchy colors, high contrast, and noir tones…typically lit with soft, natural light…

About the Artwork:
The photo was captured on a drive during sunset. The yellow mixed with peach pink in the background created a glow vis-à-vis the dark hard silhouette of the traffic light and the dark tree branches.

About the Artwork:
I followed the traces of the objects with unlimited overlapping lines, repeating the act over and over again, focusing on their properties, concentrating on color and line. The traces overlap each other to create a pattern and a sense of repetition.

About the Artwork:
I usually compare this to traditional sketches. I take snapshots, without looking for a special photo. I photograph a motif or figure that catches my eye and interests me. When I paint a picture, it is then that I compose—I find a figure interesting and search for something that goes together with it. At the end, the work is put together from different sources. Things that have influenced me are: film, commercials, media in general and art history.

About the Artwork:
In my photography and digital art, I am primarily drawn to the patterns and imagery of nature. This subject matter has become a way for me to reflect on the larger themes of environment, climate, and ecology. Along with this macro view, however, there is the micro—one's personal, subjective relationship with nature. There are restorative, therapeutic, and transcendent aspects of interacting with the waves, flowing water, leaves, and branches. To me, these simple patterns have a deep resonance with the transformations that are a part of the human condition. I often engage with these fundamental shapes and patterns because I tend to see creative potential in these images, not only in the narrative sense of “telling a story,” but in their ability to express what often lays dormant in our everyday surroundings, a vision of what remains unseen by a passing view.

About the Artwork:
This is THE MOMENT HAS PASSED from THE SHAPE OF LANGUAGE series. The pictographs are based on the shapes the mouth makes while pronouncing the words of the title. I used to think that it was my idea that there was a relationship between some words and the shapes the mouth makes. But I have since found out that other people had the same idea including Sir Richard Baker in his 1930 book HUMAN SPEECH.

About the Artwork:
This painting titled “Blue Moon” embodies Vian Borchert’s atmospheric abstract expressionist work where the painterly trademark of Borchert is clear. The painting represents an abstracted blue moon over a body of water. In this painting Borchert emphasizes on the dreamy aspect of the theme while allowing the painter within her to come forth.
